After a somewhat hectic scramble to get our group of seven all safely onto the Delos excursion, we took a ferry from Mykonos' Old Town out to the now-uninhabited island filled with ancient ruins and crumbling temples. The island is incredibly quiet, and almost all the noise comes from human visitors. However, the island does have a feral cat population, as well as a solid presence of insects and birds. Although there were one or two species we didn't end up identifying, we saw a Hooded Crow (the first of many on the trip, who got the nickname Tim) and several Yellow-legged Gulls. Despite the limited number of species we were able to spot, it was still a great experience to take in the quiet atmosphere walking between long-abandoned homes and absorbing the hilltop views.
We saw quite a few more gulls on the ferry ride back to the Old Town, as well as a plethora of Feral Pigeons and Rock Doves once we arrived. There didn't seem to be very many other birds present as we explored the city, not even the normally omnipresent House Sparrows that were around just about everywhere else we visited in Europe.
